Paris, France – The French spring morning carried with it a vibrant air of anticipation as party members and dignitaries gathered at Charles de Gaulle International Airport to welcome the arrival of one of the most influential figures in Nigeria’s political landscape — His Excellency, Hon. Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje GFR, CON, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The APC France Chapter rolled out a warm and ceremonious welcome for the National Chairman, who arrived in Paris ahead of the much-anticipated leadership transition within the France Chapter scheduled for Saturday, 19 April 2025.
The arrival terminal at Charles de Gaulle briefly turned into a celebration of party unity and Nigerian pride. Enthusiastic party faithful, clad in colourful traditional attires and waving APC flags, broke into cheerful chants and applause as Dr. Ganduje emerged from the VIP lounge, flanked by members of his entourage and airport security officials.
The moment was historic — a sitting National Chairman of Nigeria’s ruling party arriving in France, not merely as a political figurehead, but as a unifying presence reaffirming the global vision of the APC.
Dr. Ganduje, dignified and smiling, acknowledged the crowd with a gentle wave and heartfelt greetings, engaging warmly with supporters and exchanging pleasantries with chapter leaders. Despite the long-haul flight, he radiated his signature calm, composed energy, clearly pleased by the scale and sincerity of the welcome.
At the centre of the welcoming party was Honourable Hajiya Musa Baba Suzuki, the newly elected Chairlady of the APC France Chapter, who stood poised and gracious as she stepped forward to receive the National Chairman.
Dressed in regal northern attire that blended cultural elegance with political symbolism, Hajiya Suzuki welcomed Dr. Ganduje with a warm embrace and traditional courtesies, presenting a bouquet of fresh flowers and offering words of honour and gratitude on behalf of the entire France Chapter.
“Your Excellency, we are deeply honoured by your presence,” she said. “Your visit is not just a symbol of the party’s unity, but a powerful reminder that the APC diaspora remains integral to the party’s future. We are ready, we are committed, and we are proud to host you in France.”
Dr. Ganduje commended the France Chapter for their organisation, grassroots mobilisation, and commitment to the party’s ideology. He particularly lauded Hajiya Suzuki for her leadership qualities and expressed confidence in her capacity to steer the chapter into a new era of growth and effectiveness.
From the airport, a well-coordinated convoy of black vehicles escorted the APC National Chairman to his hotel residence in central Paris. Members of the France Chapter, led by the incoming and outgoing executives, accompanied the chairman, singing patriotic tunes and waving miniature Nigerian flags as the convoy glided through the boulevards of the French capital.
On arrival at the hotel, the entourage was welcomed by local APC officials and members of the Nigerian community in France. The lobby of the hotel had been tastefully adorned with green-white-green décor and the APC insignia, setting a dignified tone for the series of events to follow.
With His Excellency now on the ground, the stage is fully set for Saturday’s grand handover ceremony, where Hon. Chief Olanrewaju Balogun, the revered Mayegun of Yoruba in France, will officially pass the baton of leadership to Hon. Hajiya Musa Baba Suzuki, the first woman to lead the APC France Chapter.
The presence of Dr. Ganduje and other national dignitaries signals not only the importance of this transition but the growing influence of the APC diaspora chapters in shaping party discourse and national development conversations.
As the evening drew in, Paris sparkled under the weight of expectation and excitement — the APC France Chapter stands at the cusp of a historic shift, and the presence of its National Chairman adds momentum to what promises to be a defining political weekend.
